Harold H. (Bud) Hughes

PRESIDENT

  • President of the Veterans Freedom Retreat, and passionate about helping veterans.
  • Owner/CEO of Bryson Engineering, LLC since 1996; an engineering firm specializing in machine design and factory automation. Registered Professional Engineer.
  • BSME from Ohio Northern University and MMS from TCU
  • Awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses and 13 Air Medals while serving as an Air Force officer flying 150+ combat missions in Vietnam in the EB-66 and B52D. Participated in Linebacker II and bombing of Hanoi in December 1972.
  • Happily married for 56 years with two grown children and four grandchildren.

David Jones

Participant Coordinator / Program Director

  • David Jones, SMSgt, USAF Retired
  • Participant Coordinator/Program Director of the Veterans Freedom Retreat, dedicated to helping veterans and partners since May 2016 to Present.
  • U.S. Air Force Veteran (Ret.) after 23 years, awarded four Meritorious Service and three Air Force Commendation Medals.
  • Education, earned MS Project Management from Colorado Technical University, Colorado Springs; BS Industrial Engineering Technology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and two AS degrees in Electronics Technology and Production Management. from CCAF.
  • Worked as a Flight Simulator Technician, contractor employee with Lockheed-Martin at Sheppard AFB, LB&B Associates, Inc at NAS Fort Worth JRB, and CAE at Dyess AFB (Abilene, TX) as the Site Manager before retiring again in 2015 to return to the Fort Worth area.
  • Happily married for 25 years with two grown children and five grandchildren.

  • Volunteered for Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre, Wichita Adult Literacy Council and Kairos Prison Ministry.

Dawn Rabideau

Director

  • Dawn Rabideau LMT, MI, Certified Medical Massage Practitioner, BCHHC, Post-op Recovery Specialist – wife, mother of two beautiful children. Dawn was raised in Wichita Falls and after her 5 1/2 year sabbatical in Germany and upstate New York, she returned to her home and family to settle in.
  • Professionally, Dawn has been in business since 1997 and is the current owner of Azure Spa & Medical Massage Clinic in downtown Wichita Falls which provides aesthetic, wellness as well as medi spa services.
  • Dawn understands the need to address the whole person when assisting someone through any challenge whether it is physical, emotional or otherwise. Over the decades she has and continues to equip herself to do just that with a constant influx of related educational opportunities.
  • Dawn is an Inspirational Speaker, Licensed 34 year veteran Corrective Skin Care Professional, a Board Certified Holistic Health & Nutrition Coach, Board Certified Personal Transformation Life Coach, Certified Emotion Code Practitioner, Licensed Massage Therapist, Licensed Massage Therapy Instructor, and double Certified Advanced Medical Massage Therapist.

Sam W. Werschky

Director

  • Board Member of the Veterans Freedom Retreat, and passionate about helping veterans.
  • Director of Construction & Facilities Planning at Cook Children’s Health Care System since 2019. Responsible for programming, design, and construction of all projects throughout the healthcare system. Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
  • Bachelors and Masters in Engineering from Texas A&M University
  • Retired in 2017 after 21 years in the US Navy serving as a Civil Engineer Corps Officer and Seabee Combat Warfare Officer. Served in Desert Storm and Afghanistan and was awarded numerous decorations and medals.
  • Happily married for 25 years with three boys.
